Stylish Edinburgh Elopement Featuring Scottish Wedding Planner Scarlett + Bell
There’s something compelling about the simplicity of an elopement. Running away to marry each other, alone, suits some couples. It was certainly the right fit for Gijs + Jente who chose Edinburgh as their elopement location. The pair live in the Netherlands and enlisted planner + styling genius, Mercedes of Scarlett and Bell to create a day that was perfectly suited for this lovely couple. I’ve worked with countless couples who choose to marry in Scotland whilst living elsewhere - there’s a tangible difference between the folks who get a skilful planner on board like Mercedes and the ones who do it solo. Generally, they save a huge amount of time because they’re working with an experienced local who knows the market and is well connected with the types of suppliers they’d like to align with. It’s a far smoother process for them and well-worth the investment…so it seems. Of course, as with all things wedding planning, it’s a personal choice and not necessarily one for all.
I digress.
Gijs + Jente’s Edinburgh elopement was simple yet stylish. The day flowed seamlessly from one part to the next. Gijs and I met for a morning coffee at Nomad before he met Jente for their first look in their gorgeous Air B n B. The look their time and savoured the moment before heading over to their wedding ceremony venue: the impressive Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. There, they met the spirited Robert Antony who conducted their ceremony - be sure to watch their highlight film as the voice over is from the moment Robert read letters from their respective mothers to the couple during their ceremony. A touching moment. Once the register was signed, we celebrated with Champagne and an incredible cake from 101 Bakery. After that, we sauntered around the incredible building and gardens before wandering through the busy streets of Edinburgh’s Old Town. We finished up on Arthur’s Seat to gain some elevation and enjoy the bustling city below. Just bliss…
Thank you again to this wonderful couple for allowing me to share their wedding highlight film and photos with you.
