Romantic Micro Beach Wedding with Highlight Film
Rebekah and Adam were married on 3rd July at Ruby Bay in Elie, Fife, just days after restrictions were changed to allow small outdoor wedding ceremonies in Scotland. Afterwards they headed to Adam’s family home just outside of Kinross. From here, I’ll hand over to Rebekah to tell her story of her beautiful micro beach wedding.
"We were planning our celebrations at the Cow Shed in Crail for just over a year when we realised we’d have to postpone. After we had the go ahead for our mini-wedding, we pulled it together in two weeks. (Yes, I know what you’re thinking - chaos. It was.)”
"As soon as we heard the government utter the words ‘outdoor wedding’ - we headed straight to the beach. I grew up in the Shetland Islands surrounded by the sea, and knew that’s where I wanted to get married. We’d been to Elie before, and loved the beach that was just down from Lady Janet Anstruther’s Tower.”
"Planning our teeny tiny wedding was so much more fun than the big thing we’d been planning before. The whole family was involved, and we pulled in favours from just about all our friends for everything, from borrowing umbrellas and tablecloths to setting up the tent.”
"It was also so lovely seeing our suppliers so excited to be back at it again. Our photographer Carole-Ann was so enthusiastic and captured the day brilliantly. Carole-Ann was great. I can’t describe how great. Deciding to postpone our wedding was so incredibly difficult, but to have someone with industry experience on your side who was there to talk things through was so incredibly valuable.”
"As someone who had only experienced big weddings, I wasn’t sure what to expect with a tiny wedding. Let me tell you, they are fab. Yes, we missed other family members dearly, and we’re just as gutted as our guests that they couldn’t attend, but the small day was so special. It wasn’t about putting on a massive show or making polite small talk, it was about having fun and spending time with people that we love after so long apart during lockdown. For us, getting married was about getting married, the big celebrations were just a bonus - and we’re thankful to still have a postponed celebration to look forward to next year. We’re still hoping to host our wedding celebrations next year at the Cow Shed Crail, and we can’t wait!”
