Unusual Wedding Venues in Scotland | WEST on the Green

WHY CHOOSE WEST ON THE GREEN FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Located in the Templeton Building on Glasgow Green, West has two versatile function suites. It can accommodate parties from 20 guests to 25. There's ample street parking. You can even arrange brewery tours for your guests. All that aside, here are three incredibly convincing reasons heralding the virtues of this Glasgow gem.

1. IT'S RIGHT ON GLASGOW GREEN

In terms of green space, you have the entire Glasgow Green on your doorstep, providing wonderful scenery which is unusual for city centre properties. Glasgow Green is a 55 hectares/136 acres site and is by far the oldest of the city's parks. The atmosphere is a combination of both the tranquility of the park juxtaposed with the energy of the city. The rest of the city centre is accessible should you fancy heading 'off site' for photographs.

2. THE ICONIC TEMPLETON BUILDING

Formally Templeton's Carpet Factory, the design was inspired by the late medieval Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace) in Venice. The flamboyant glazed brick, vitreous enamel tiles, red brick and terracotta of the facade evokes the rich Oriental-influenced patterns of the carpets the factory produced. WEST's brewery and head office are both based in the Templeton Building now, alongside the WEST On The Green bar + restaurant. The design + architecture of the building provide a unique backdrop to a wedding.

3. RELAXED + ENERGISING ATMOSPHERE

If you're looking for a quiet, private use only venue, WEST is not for you. WEST On The Green functions primarily as a bar and restaurant. It’s not an exclusive use wedding venue. Depending on the size of wedding you have, you'll most likely converge with folks stopping in for lunch or post work drinks. The two functions suites do provide a reasonable level of privacy. If you're looking for a space with a difference; a spot with palpable energy, you might find WEST's charm + spirit irresistible.

Make a coffee. Grab your notepad + pen. This is exactly what you've been looking for.  WHY MARRY IN SCOTLAND?  Scotland's incredibly lucky to have an astonishing selection of unique wedding venues. Whether you want to get married in an industrial space, by the sea or hidden away in the Scottish wilderness, it's all possible here.  Scottish law allows you to marry anywhere. Yes. ANYWHERE. Marrying outdoors is very common so long as your ceremony is conducted by a religious official, registrar or a non-religious Humanist Society Scotland celebrant. Remember, Humanist ceremonies aren't legally binding in England.  Scottish law also allows you to get married WHENEVER you want, though it helps if there's some basic infrastructure in place. Whilst weddings in the rest of the UK have to take place between 8am and 6pm, they don't in Scotland. HOW THIS GUIDE WORKS? Carefully curated and updated regularly with the most innovative and creative wedding settings, you can be sure of a genuinely distinct experience. For ease, it's split into the following sections: The City Castles Estates, Houses + Halls Rural Escapes By the Water Mountains
