Elegant Wedding at Villa Bonomi with Dramatic Views of Lake Como.
There are few destinations better suited to a an elegant wedding than Villa Bonomi, which overlooks Lake Como. Italy Elegant, editorial and easy-going are the there words Hannah and Andrew leaned into as they planned their day from their home in the States,
“We knew we wanted to get married in Europe but spent a long time finding the perfect venue. We loved that Villa Bonomi had dramatic views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains but was a bit tucked away from the town centre. Our first international trip together was to South Tyrol and Lake Como, so the destination also felt fitting. From a logistics perspective, we also loved that it was relatively close to an international airport (Malpensa) for our guests. We wanted to lean into the natural beauty of Lake Como and the overall fun and colourful ambience of Italy in the summer! Our biggest inspiration was our guests- making sure our family and friends would have a fabulous time celebrating with us. We had a wedding planner, Anne Laure Weddings. Anne Laure was critical for a destination wedding – especially given language barriers and time zones.
We absolutely loved Harper-Scott Photo and would recommend them to everyone! We first met Carole Ann at our friends’ at wedding destination wedding at Gleneagles and loved her charisma, the way she was able to manage a large group, and of course, her photos. Specifically, what we loved were that the photos were more editorial and interesting - we weren’t looking for cookie cutter or corny poses. For those planning a wedding, we’ll hit on 3 essentials. 1) Carole-Ann and Hazel take beautiful, unique photographs that you actually want to frame (no school portraits here!) 2) they make every photoshoot fun and comfortable, while being discrete in the personal moments, and 3) their planning and communication is reliable, honest, and quick.
For us it was important to have a photographer who would capture the monumental moments of the day, the overall vibe, as well as who we are as a couple. Carole- Ann and Hazel captured every moment beautifully- from the sentimental to the lively. When we saw our photos we were blown away by how the photos helped us relive the day, capturing the moments we want to cherish forever, with style. A wedding photographer is also with you during every pivotal moment of the wedding, and Carole Ann and Hazel made us feel comfortable, made us laugh, and made our family and friends feel great. They are FUN to be around, and blended in with our guests- everyone enjoyed their company.
In terms of preparation, this was also seamless. Carole-Ann was always incredibly commutative. She is quick to respond and quick to provide honest feedback and recommendations. With everything else going on leading up to a wedding, Carole-Ann struck the perfect balance of asking the right questions and getting the right context so that we felt comfortable and confident, without anything being overwhelming or time intensive. For those planning a wedding, you know how valuable this is!
